Food for Thought

When it comes to clothes, why is it that all of the colors are named after foods? You have a nice carmel color. Or maybe a rich chocolate. Oh, and there's always plum. Don't forget Blueberry. And if you want to go really crazy, you can always choose a nice shade of wine. I just don't understand it. There are a million things in this world that they could be named after. Why food? You would think that in the clothing industry they wouldn't have to have you thinking about your stomach quite so much. This is why I could never go into retail....

Maybe food is the best thing some people can relate to. It probably also appeals more to the customers than dirty-sock-cream or rusty-old-car-red. :) -H.bear

It's all just a appealing use of diction! It puts a mood on that piece of clothing, and adds to the appeal!

I don't know. Maybe they DO want you to think about your stomach and food because then you'll eat and you'll put on pounds and go up a size and have to go out clothes shopping again and spend more money. Gasp! It's all a conspiracy.
